End of the term? Time to submit your expense claims!!
Sold any power banks? Delivered any speakers? Printed any USB sticks?
Then the end of the quarter is the perfect time to check: are we fully up to date with the admin?
Because at Product Media, we love to focus on creativity, personalisation and impact. But some products also come with obligations. And that’s when names like Bebat, Auvibel and Recupel come into the picture.
Don’t panic. We’ll keep it simple!
🔋 Bebat – does it contain a battery?
Power banks, wireless gadgets, illuminated products… Batteries are found in a wide range of promotional items these days.
Are you placing batteries – including those built into products – on the Belgian market for the first time? If so, the legal requirements relating to batteries may apply to you.
👉 Check your situation or register via www.bebat.be
💾 Auvibel – USB stick included?
USB sticks and certain other data storage devices may be subject to the Auvibel levy for private copying.
Are you a manufacturer, an importer, or do you purchase such products directly from another EU country to place them on the market in Belgium? If so, you may be required to submit a declaration and pay a levy.

🔌 Recupel – electrical or electronic?
Speakers, headphones, chargers and electronic gadgets: legal obligations may apply here too.
If you are placing electrical or electronic equipment on the Belgian market for the first time, you must check whether you are responsible for producer responsibility.

But… is registration obligated?
The legal obligations? Yes, if your business and products are covered by the regulations.
But that does not automatically mean that every distributor has to join Bebat, Auvibel and Recupel.
The key question is usually:
Who is introducing the product to the Belgian market for the first time?
Are you buying from a Belgian supplier who has already taken care of everything correctly? If so, the responsibility may lie with them.
Are you importing the goods yourself directly? If so, it becomes even more important to check your own obligations.
A small check. A big difference. ✅
So use the checklist for a quick compliance check:
Battery? → Bebat.
USB/storage device? → Auvibel.
Electrical or electronic? → Recupel.
Not sure? It’s better to check once too often than once too little.
Because running a professional business in the product media sector isn’t just about delivering the right product. It’s also about knowing what lies behind that product.
Check. Declare. Ready for the next quarter. 🚀
The exact obligations depend on the product, its origin and your role in the supply chain. You should therefore always check your specific situation with the relevant organisation.
